WYE Valley NHS Trust is on standby for another day of strike action.

In-house unions have told the trust that members will join a national strike over government pay proposals on Monday, November 24 between 7am-12pm.

The Trust faced a similar strike last month with the dispute directly with government rather than the trust itself.

Then, the Trust said the strike caused "minimal disruption" to healthcare services.

But Trust HR director Maureen Bignell spoke of "disappointment" at further strike action.

“However, we will ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and patient safety will not be compromised with critical services unaffected.

“Where disruptions are likely to occur, the Trust will contact patients to alert them," she said.

On strike day the Trust will keep its website posted with details of which services are affected.

Unions have confirmed that, following the strike, some members will work to rule over the government's recommended one per cent pay rise.

Last month's strike saw pickets in Hereford throughout its duration outside the County Hospital and the ambulance  station in Ross Road.

All told around 100 Unison and GMB members were involved representing nurses, paramedics, hospital porters and ambulance crews as well as the Royal College of Midwives.

NHS staff have had pay frozen or below inflation rises since the coalition
came to power.

The government says it cannot afford a 1 per cent rise as well as the 3 per cent rise automatically received by many staff.
