BIN crews are working longer hours as the new rubbish collection scheme is bedded in around the county.

Herefordshire Council said crews and residents are still getting used to their new collections, which started last Monday.

The black bin and recycling bin are now collected on alternate weeks.

There have been a number of missed collections and the wrong delivery information was sent to some homes.

Spokesman for Herefordshire Council, Michelle Morgan, said: “Crews and residents alike are still getting used to their new collections.

“There has been some error with the delivery of collection information with residents in some areas of Whitecross and Hampton Dene. We have delivered new information and repeated collections where this has occurred.

“We have maintained the collection operatives on rounds where they have knowledge, as far as it’s practicable, though there will be a period of ‘bedding in’ for those operatives undertaking new rounds.

“FCC Environment have been working hard to return to any missed collection reported to them.

“Crews are working longer hours while they get used to their new rounds therefore we would ask people not to report a missed collection until the day following their collection.

“Missed collections can be logged online outside of the customer services open hours.”
