A GROUP of former Ledbury rugby players who embarked on a holiday around Europe almost 50 years ago are to reunite.

Mike Pullin, 78, has contacted five former teammates from Ledbury Rugby Club to arrange meeting up - 47 years after the group appeared on the front page of the Hereford Times ahead of their continental adventure in a Land Rover.

Mr Pullin, who lives in Dinedor, says he is looking forward to the reunion, which will take place in October at the Walwyn Arms in Much Marcle.

"I thought it would be a good way to meet up before it's too late," said Mr Pullin, who set-up the Hospice Angels fundraising group ten years ago to collect money for Bartestree-based St Michael's Hospice.

"The others are a bit younger than me though.

"I've been in touch with one or two of them for a while but have now got in touch with all five."

He said the original trip in 1967 took in 13 European countries including the former Yugoslavia.

The group has no plans to make the journey again, however.
