A COUNTY charity is back on the road after replacing its stolen minibus.

The maroon-coloured bus, owned by Dore Community Transport, was taken last year from John Watkins Car Repairs on Gooses Foot Industrial Estate in Kingstone.

The stolen bus had replaced a similar one that was written off in a road crash the previous year.

But now the charity is back to having three Volkswagen Transporters after purchasing a new vehicle from South Hereford Garages.

Courtside Conversions also provided help to ensure that the vehicle is suitable for wheelchair users.

"It is a long wheelbase version allowing seven seated passengers and one wheelchair," said Chris Tomlinson, volunteer driver and fleet manager at Dore Community Transport.

"It is also fitted with the latest air suspension which gives a greatly improved ride for wheelchair clients.

"Over the years, South Hereford Garages has been very helpful and generous in carrying out some major work on the vehicles at cost price."

The charity also received funding support from a number of bodies, including the Eveson Charitable Trust and Herefordshire Council.
