A VILLAGE history group is commemorating the First World War by remembering all those in the local community who died, as well as those who returned home.
The Yarpole Living History Group – which covers Bircher, Bircher Common, Lucton, Bicton and Yarpole – is collecting the stories of all those soldiers who are commemorated on the village's war memorials and the stories of those who returned.
The group already has a number of stories but is particularly seeking photos of George Bengree, Percy Chamberlain, Stanley Cross, Francis Dale, Arthur H. Gough, Edward Gough, Joseph James, Ernest Mitchell, William Perkins, Ernest Pinches, Cecil A. Wilkinson, Joseph Pinches, Russell Henry Price, William Hughes, Thomas and William Hammond, James Phillip Lawrence, Albert James Prince and Thomas Davies.
Any information about Roderick Breeze or others from the area who fought in the conflict is also welcomed.
A display in Yarpole Community Building from November 3 to 15 will display all of the stories and photos the group has discovered.
