Hereford United's new head of recruitment, Mark Ellis, asks for an end to negativity

Mark Ellis, Director of Football at Hereford United, is asking for fans to "stop all the negativity".

HEREFORD United's new head of recruitment has asked for fans to get behind the club.

Mark Ellis told the Hereford Times before training this morning that people need to "stop all the negativity".

Ellis said he was unhappy with the criticism on the fans' sites.

"You are not from the fans forums are you?" he also asked.

Mr Ellis added: "We have got some excellent players from clubs like Chelsea and QPR and if we are in the Southern League, we will only be there for one season."

Ellis is a football agent at Crystalsportsmanagement and has been an analyst, first-team scout and recruitment at AFC Bournemouth.

Ellis said he has a host of excellent young players training this morning at Victoria Park - many of whom had previously been at professional clubs.

The training session is being run by Ellis and overseen by Jon Taylor, a former assistant manager at Banbury United.

Taylot was briefly at Banbury United in 2012-13 and worked under manager Edwin Stein.

Sam Gwynne was taking part in the session, which was run very enthusiastically and professionally, and also watched by sports therapist Jonny Evans and kitman Roger Lloyd.

There were around 19 young players at the session -  with three goalkeepers.

A couple of additional players are expected to arrive from Spain tomorrow.

What did he expect fro crying out loud.
The fans have been through an emotional roller coaster ending with being expelled from the league. I suggest he waits till the new owner shows his mug at the ground, then he'll see negativity.

Talk about an ill judged comment.

After all the staff, players and fans have been through...
The lies from the board and the failure to manage....

With these same individuals in place and with no team, league or viable business; Mr Ellis has the gall to say 'stop the negativity'

Why not just kick us in the nuts while you're at it Ellis !!!

That Ellis statement is an insult to all those effected, all those owed money, all those who've lost their jobs and all those who have supported and kept the club alive. It's just further proof that those coming from outside have no clue about honour and the real mindset of true supporters. I hope those in power like the council etc can see where this is heading. Give the club back to the fans, the people that care about the club...

This story has been changed since it first appeared. Mr Ellis' comment to the journalist "You're not from the fans forums are you?" has been removed and some positive spin on the training session has been inserted.

A. The board with endless, empty promises to the staff, players & Football Conference that payments to football creditors will be made.

Nope, not the first time

And another change just made - the fans forum comment has been paraphrased and put in again.

Come on HT, why not allow your journalist or web inputter to add to the comments thread to explain or record changes to the main story.

Oh we are in the Southern League. Well perhaps, perhaps not. But one thing is clear - we were chucked out of the Conference due to the bare faced lies and manipulation of D Keyte and T Agombar. I hope most fans will go only to away games so as to starve these parasites of any income. The new owners are only interested in making a profit from a redevelopment of the ground. They cannot even come clean as to who they actually are>
So Mr Ellis what do you expect when you are an integral part of this corruption?

I think it's important that readers can trust content in general, very important indeed.
At this point in time, from a football point of view, it's critical given the non-truths etc being spouted from the new people!

Tripping readers up by making retrospective changes is not on HT, intentional or not.

Mark Ellis is correct, there is a lot of negativity on the forums. Mainly because the fans have not been told what is going on, and all they see are the human interest stories-staff not being paid, people losing their jobs, alleged funds not materialising when required to satisfy the conference hierarchy. Coupled with the fact that the club we love is in danger of disappearing. Personally, and I would be surprised if other supporters ddidn't feel the same, I think this is an exciting time for Hereford United.Yes, we are dropping down the pyramid, but will be playing at a sustainable and more importantly, winning level. People will always come and watch a successful team and next season, with the players that are coming in, we should be challenging for promotion right from the first kick. I would expect attendances to be around the 1200 mark at home, and with our dedicated away support, most teams in whatever division we are in will feel the benefit of our visit to their stadiums. We will soon be on a steady footing, and with careful husbandry will continue to be so, learning from the mistakes of the past. Now is the time for all fans to put personal animosity to one side, and all get together behind Hereford United Football Club. Talk of phoenix clubs and various AFC's is un-necessary and counter-productive at this crucial time in our history. Come on you whites!!!

2 things

Changing the content of the story once it has been published should be explained. Why remove the comment about fans forums from Ellis?
The HT, as Herefordshires finest organ, should be transparent about that.

secondly, dadgey.. there is exciting and exciting. Rumours of Stehen Vaughan's potential involvement and stories of Tommy Agombars past are exciting, like when someone kicks you in the nuts.
Watching the club play below it's level, but winning every game is exciting in that the jeopardy is that we mustn't lose to ensure promotion.

Please sell the club to HUST for a quid Tommy. Or at least pay people and be transparent and for gawds sake don't involve Vaughan or I will go nowhere near the club and I am not alone in that view.

There is so much that's 'wrong' with Hereford United at the moment the bills not being paid the staff not being paid the players not being paid, and it's not got anything to do with not having the money
They are purposely not being paid from the top 'for what purpose' i hear you ask?
'Well' the ground is on prime developmenting ground and the two at the top Keyte & Tommy Agombar are after the two ends to build on, to profit on!!!
they don't care about the football club They don't care about what will be built there all they care about is how much money they can run away with.
nearly everyone has cottoned on to what these people are up to but there's still that 'few' including the Hereford Times ( start doing your research and stop reporting as though everything is ok because it 'clearly' isn't) sadly that think the club has got a bright future under these two 'con artists'.
