A Hereford woman fought off a hooded robber while on her way home from Tesco in Belmont last month.
The would-be thief approached her from behind on his bike and attempted to snatch the victim’s bag.
However the woman refused to let it go, and when another cyclist came around the corner and onto the footpath near Golden Post, the ride-by robber released it and cycled away.
Police are now appealing for any information regarding the attack, which took place between 11.45am and 12.15pm on Sunday May 25.
The assailant is described as a male between 16 and 24, clean shaven, with short blond hair that appeared almost white,
He was wearing a grey hooded top, dark blue jeans and was riding a what appeared to be a mountain bike with a black bell on the handlebars.
Detective Constable Ben Pearson of Hereford Reactive CID said: “We urge anyone who recognises the description or knows this man to contact us immediately.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who saw the attempted robbery and particularly the second cyclist who may be able to give us important information about what happened and about the suspect.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Pearson by calling the non emergency number 101 and quoting incident number 322s 250514.
Alternatively information can be passed on anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or completing its online form by logging on to www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
