However, people who do not mind walking can leave their vehicle at the Merton Meadow car park for £2 all day.

4 hours: £4.80

5 hours: £6.50

Have I got this right? If I want to do a shop at Waitrose, I will have to pay for parking?
Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, etc, are all free!
I wonder if Waitrose have a plan to help shoppers? At least at Morrisons you get the £1 fee back when you pay for the shopping.

Well there you go, all you have to do is order on line and get the shops to deliver, why do you need to visit them anyway?
Does this council want anyone to use these shops, or are these charges being made to actually pay for this development.? it is a bit stiff if you want to go to the cinema, well I shall not bother to go to the shops, this is this council on overkill, it will kill the shops, especially the restaurants and cafes.
Another home goal, this council should play for Hereford United, this would really screw them up. As it says, you could not make this up, or could you?

Why am I ever surprised at anything these people do, I really think that a gigantic boob has been made in the costing, and that this is the only way to pay for it, I am sure that the shops within this development will be holding their collective breaths, don't hold it for too long, this is the Hereford council, that all the people who voted for them, deserve.

Well the facilities need to be paid for some how. It's only a couple of quid, if it is such a bother, park in Merton Meadow and walk over! I know I will get 100's of negatives for this, but come on quit the pessimism!

You have to pay to park in Cheltenham, Coventry, you don't in Gloucester but does it really have as many shops as Hfd will?

Waitrose are bound to refund you parking costs.

Let the moaning commence!!

I think this is far from a symbiotic relationship. The Council want to kick the a*** out of the parking again but the shops want to attract shoppers'. Loads of people will want to nip into Waitrose in their car to spend 10 mins. buying lunch (sandwich or a salad maybe) but will have to pay £1.20 when their spend at the shop may just be £2 or £3.

The Council attendants are just ruthless. The quickest I've seen personally is a ticket issued for 22 seconds of illegal parking in a loading bay in Union Street. A woman returning a large gas bottle to the balloon shop in that street. She had the wrong type of vehicle for the bay she was in. The fact that the bottle was massive and heavy was irrelevant. Pedants!

Shameful, how is encouraging people to shop in Hereford with extortionate prices? Parking should be pay on exit and competitive with neighbouring county shopping venues.

I can't see how it will warrant staying in Hereford to shop when there is still more choice and either free or cheaper parking available elsewhere.

Won't be parking there to purchase expensive groceries at Waitrose, will continue with the high quality produce at Lidl and Aldi using their free parking facilities. Online purchasing will cover anything I might need at Debenhams, M&S is as good as Next for clothes and the rest of the Old Market is junk food and expensive coffee so I will remain loyal to Cookies in Bewell Square. The only bonus is the Odeon whose film list up to July is uninspiring, so it's back to the Courtyard.
