ALMOST 95 per cent of Herefordshire children have been offered a place at their preferred primary school for September.
Parents across the county – and nationally – have today found out which school their child has been offered a reception class place in for September 2014.
In Herefordshire, 1,815 offers were made with 94.7 per cent offered their first choice, 3.5 per cent offered their second and 0.6 per cent offered their third choice.
The remaining 21 places offered (1.2 per cent), were to parents whose preferences could not be met. A place in the nearest primary school to their home address with available spaces was offered instead.
Herefordshire Council currently has 16 primary schools in Herefordshire which have a waiting list, and 53 which have available spaces.
Last year 1,878 offers were made, of which 92 per cent were first preferences and 98.8 per cent were one of three preferences.
Today marks the first National Offer Day which allocates places across England on the same day.
