AS part of the Brownie centenary celebrations challenge badge, Knighton Brownies have been looking at various years during the century.

During their latest meeting in Knighton Youth Centre they looked at 1939 and what it was like for children then.

Most of the session was held in candle light, children dressed as evacuees, with gas masks including a home made one and held torches.

During the evening they wrote letters home similar to those written by evacuees from the period, drank hot chocolate, ate crackers and played games popular in 1939 including board games
