DANCEFEST is seeking applications from budding Herefordshire or Worcestershire-based choreographers, in all styles of dance, from contemporary to street, from Bollywood to salsa, for Creates, a project where young choreographers work with dance professionals to create a new piece of dance for performance.

All you need to do is come up with an idea for a dance - solo, duet or group - of no longer than five minutes long, then contact Clare Wood, youth dance coordinator for Dancefest, at clare@dancefest.co.uk. The deadline for applications is Friday, January 31.

The selected choreographers will then each create and develop their dance, with a professional dance artist who will advise them and help to build their piece and increase their choreographic skills. The final performances will form part of the Circuit youth dance performance in Herefordshire in March, and Big Dance Week in Worcestershire in July.

Rob Ferguson, a previous Creates participant who is now training for a dance degree at Trinity Laban said, “Having your own choreography performed on stage in prestigious theatres is an amazing feeling. Creates is a brilliant project, a lot of fun, and I would fully encourage people to have a go.”
