LOVED-up couples are invited to reaffirm their marriage vows in an attempt to break a world record.
St Mary's Parish Church and Hereford Baptist Church are asking as many people as possible to pop along to either venue on February 8 as part of the national marriage week celebrations.
The current world record for couples simultaneously reaffirming their vows currently stands at 1,087. It was set at Miami University in 2009.
But, Christopher Whitmey, who is organising the Fownhope event, hopes that can be broken.
"More than two-thirds of families are headed by a married couple and we want to draw attention to the tremendous work done by this silent majority," said Christopher.
"Setting a world record is a practical, but tangible way of getting reporting on the importance of vows at the heart of society."
Christopher said that, in order to adhere to the Guinness World Record rules, a minimum of 25 couples have to participate at each venue and marriage certificates would have to be produced.
A recording of the reaffirmations must also take place at 5.15pm and two independent witnesses, one of whom must be a registrar or clergy licensed to conduct weddings, must oversee proceedings.
To take part, call Mr Whitmey on 01432 860449 or 01432 860565.
