The schools that have booked HCA’s Young Enterprise Performers’ production of Oliver Lansley's The Terrible Infants for next year are in for a major treat.

There was plenty to admire in the show, but what impressed most and gave it such vibrancy, freshness and energy was the obvious fun every one of the performers – acting or dancing – was having, which transmitted itself effortlessly to the audience.

Shades of Roald Dahl colour The Terrible Infants, a series of linked cautionary tales, the biggest of which is the tallest tale of all, the tale of Tilly whose tale-telling sees her growing a tail of her own, and then there’s the story of Tumb, so hungry he eats his mum and grows a mum-shaped tum, and Thingummy Boy, so self-effacing even the mirror forgets his face.

It was funny, it was dramatic, it was delivered with real delight, largely choreographed and directed by the young cast, who can be justifiably proud of having produced a truly professional and polished show.
