A NEW initiative is being launched at Leominster’s Lion Ballroom in the form of an exciting Sunday afternoon series running from September through to next May, which begins with a concert by the Bochmann String Trio, pictured, on Sunday, September 8.

The trio will be playing a programme of some of the most beautiful chamber works from the Classical period: Mozart’s Divertimento in E flat K563, Beethoven’s String Trio in D Op 9 No 2, and Schubert’s String Trio in B flat D 471.

There are 17 concerts in the series, all of which start at 3pm. Seven of these, including the first, are promoted by Espressivo, concert promoters now based in Leominster, who are bringing a variety of artists, including singers, a string quartet, instrumental duos and a further eight feature pianist Duncan Honeybourne in his Piano Plus 3 series in which he explores the versatility of the piano with music from a variety of composers from Bach to the present day, and the remaining two are promoted by the Ballroom, one with a Welsh-Argentine guitar duo and the other with a Celtic harpist.

Tickets for all concerts and a booklet produced to accompany the series can be obtained from Gill’s Gifts, Buttercross Arcade, Leominster, 01568 611588 or email gillianshuck@ sky.com Visit expressivo.org.uk or lionballroom.co.uk
