HUNDREDS of authors, politicians and musicians come from all over the world to speak in Hay-On-Wye each festival season, but this year one talk will be of particular interest to the town’s residents.
The town recently received Heritage Lottery funding to restore the Hay Cheese Market and to mark the occasion there will be illustrated talk about Herefordshire market halls at Hay Festival on Thursday.
Local Director Juliet Noble, Project Manager Clare Purcell and architectural historian Julian Orbach will take to the stage will lead the talk, titled ‘The Civic Cinderellas’.
After the talk, festival-goers will get a look at some of the community activities set to bring the Hay Cheese Market to life after renovation of the 178-year-old building is complete.
The talk itself will last for 50 minutes, with a chance to ask questions afterwards and tickets – available from the Hay Festival Box Office – cost £5.
