MEMORIAL HALL - Presteigne and District War Memorial Hall is celebrating its 60th anniversary next month. The hall committee is having a celebratory dinner in June. More details will appear here in the coming weeks.

MUSIC - Belshazzar’s Feast will be playing traditional folk music, then add a touch of classical and jazz, throw in a bit of pop and music hall and finish off with lashings of dry humour at the Assembly Rooms tomorrow (Friday) from 8pm. SERVICES - This Sunday there is a service of holy communion at Kinsham at 9am and a choral holy communion at St Andrew’s at 11am. All are welcome.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED - The warden needs attention at this time of year more than others.

MUSIC - Swamp Candy will be playing in the Dukes Arms as part of a Sheep Music gig on Wednesday from 8.30pm.

Admission at the door will be £4.

THE CIRCLE - Have you heard of ‘the circle?’ It’s a place where anyone of any age can come along to and have a chat and a cuppa and make new friends. It happens every Tuesday from 10am-2pm at the youth centre in Hereford Street. You don’t have to be there for the whole time, just pop in anytime. There are no set cost, just a donation. They have trips, quizzes, exercises, plus lots more going on.

COFFEE MORNING - There is a coffee morning with a difference at St Andrew’s Church hall on Saturday morning from 10.30amnoon.

As well as cakes, bric-abrac, a raffle plus lots more you would associate with a coffee morning, Diane Sawyer will be giving a demonstration of using fascinating images on card, using melted coloured wax.

EVERGREENS - The Evergreens are organising a coach trip to Hay-on-Wye and the Old Nursery and garden centre on May 22, leaving at 10am. The cost is £10 and places can be booked by calling Pat on 260823.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK - There is a commissioning service for volunteers and all those interested in the valuable work, including a DVD of work undertaken, its impact and future projects as part of Christian Aid Week. it’s at the Baptist Church on Sunday at 3pm. MUSIC - The Sinfornia Cymru will have Classic Conversation at St Andrew’s Church tomorrow (Friday) from 7.30pm. Conductor Carlo Rizzi will be joined by Benjamin Grosvenor on piano and the programme will include works by Mendelssohn, Schumann, Scriabin and Beethoven. Admission is £12 for adults and £4 for children. Tickets can be purchased from the Post Office or by calling 267201.

BLUES AND JAZZ - You are invited to bring along your instrument and just play. Or just turn up and listen at the music session at the Radnorshire Arms on Mondays from 7.30pm.

GATHER ROUND - You are invited to gather round the piano this Saturday from 11am at the Assembly Rooms. Everyone is welcome whether you can sing or not or any age. Admission is £5 for adults with children free.

FOOTBALL CLUB - This Sunday sees the final of The Presteigne Otway Cup, the oldest cup competition still running in Radnorshire. This year’s finalists are Knighton Town and Hay St Marys. Kick off is 2.30pm and admission is £3 for adults, £2 for OAPs and £1 for under-16s. The clubhouse bar will be open all afternoon. Come along and support your local football club.

GARDENS OPEN - The Cloister Gardens at Pant Hall near Willey crossroads will be open to the public as part of the National Gardens Scheme on Sunday from 2pm-6pm. Admission is £3.50 for adults with accompanied children free. Dogs are not permitted.

MUSIC - Guitarist/vocalist Gary Owen from Hereford will be at the Royal British Legion Club on Saturday singing 60s, 70s and 80s music. Admission is £3 at the door with the fun starting at 8pm.
