ROSS picked up a point from a goalless draw at Wotton-under-Edge 3rd in the Gerrard West of England and South Wales Hockey League Herefordshire & Gloucestershire 2 which ended with three players - two from Ross - sent off.

The unbeaten home side quickly became frustrated at their inability to turn possession into goals and Ross responded with some robust tackling which led to the umpires awarding their whole team a green card.

In the second period, goalkeeper and skipper Andy Ridgway's response to a flailing challenge from a Wotton forward saw him become the first player dismissed.

James Adamson swiftly followed when he was judged to have kicked the ball deliberately.

Although numerically reduced, Ross pushed forward and, after Adrian Williams had had a goal disallowed, the home captain became the third player to get his marching orders when he was sent off for a crude body-check on Sam Warner which stopped the Ross man's searching run into the Wotton D.

Leominster were without forwards Rob Goodman and Josh Watkins for their trip to Westbury & United Banks 2nd and their absence proved an insurmountable handicap as the North Herefordshire side went down to a 2-1 defeat.

After a goalless first period in which there were very few chances at either end, Westbury scored within five minutes of the restart following a short corner.

Leominster hit back, however, to force a string of short corners and levelled from one of these when John Davis scored from the top of the D.

Westbury then had a player sent off for dissent and Leominster seemed likely to hold on to their point until some defensive naivete allowed the home side to grab the winner from their last short corner of the game.

Leominster 2nd had a better day with a narrow 1-0 win over bottom-club Stroud 2nd in Herefordshire & Gloucestershire 2.

Hereford's recent revival came to an end in Premier 3 when, after two wins, they succumbed 2-0 at bottom-club Cirencester.

Hereford were guilty of missing a number of chances and their off-target day began as early as the 10th minute when Ewan Bell set up Colin Amos only for the city club's skipper to fire wide from three yards.

Shortly afterwards, man-of-the-match Nick Somerfield missed with a great chance when the goal was at his mercy.

Cirencester took the lead at the start of the second period with a deflected free-hit and then extended their lead with a shot from a short corner which went into the net through the legs of Hereford goalkeeper Jim Wallis.

Bell and Amos missed late chances for Hereford who continued to dominate the match without being able to find the net.

It was a mixed day for the Hereford club with the second-string moving up to fourth place in Herefordshire & Gloucestershire 1 with a 4-1 win over Cirencester 2nd but the third team losing 5-2 at Newent 2nd.

It was a nightmare day for Hereford 4th in Herefordshire & Gloucestershire 2 as they went down 12-0 at home to second-placed Cheltenham 4th.
