HISTORIC documents about a medieval Herefordshire family will shed light on the county’s history when they are revealed for the first time at a conference this spring.
Latin documents about the Mortimer family have been translated for the first time and will be available in the Wigmore Chronicle at the Mortimer History Society’s conference.
The event is at Earl Mortimer College in Leominster on May 11, when the publication will be launched by translator and Marches expert Paul Remfry.
Mr Remfry will be joined by author Dr Ian Mortimer, Mortimer descendent Dr Benjamin Thompson and Juliet Barker, author of a new book on the Peasants’ Revolt.
The conference theme is Changing Society in the Time of Richard II and will discuss the powerful Mortimer family which was based at Ludlow and Wigmore castles.
