A BLACK tie ball in Ledbury raised more than £6,000 for Herefordshire’s Clear About Breast Cancer Appeal.

The dinner and auction at the Feathers Hotels was organised by a group of people supporting the campaign to install state-ofthe- art digital equipment at Hereford’s County Hospital.

Medical charity Cobalt and the Wye Valley Trust needs to raise £160,000 for the breast screening technology which will mean people in Herefordshire will not have to travel miles out of the county before they are diagnosed.

“Our group has been personally affected by breast cancer and is aware of the huge contribution that Cobalt brings to this area of cancer treatment,” said Richard Pugh, one of the organisers of the ball.

“We are very humbled by the support and backing of the local community.

“A huge debt of thanks goes out to everyone who helped make the night such a great success, from auctioneers to photographers and musicians, all of whom gave their time without charge, and particularly those who made such generous bids for the auction lots.”

The night included a champagne reception, three-course meal, live music and an auction with lots ranging from a hot air balloon ride, a visit to the Houses of Parliament, and tickets to see the X Factor live.
