CRIMESTOPPERS have offered an award of £1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and charge of anyone who burgled an elderly woman’s home in Hereford.

The victim, who is in her 90s, woke to find a man in her flat in Hinton Road, claiming to be a carer.

However, she does not have one and it was discovered later that her handbag was stolen from her bedroom.

The suspect is described as white, of a slim build and was wearing dark clothing with a hood pulled over his head.

The victim said that he was a young male and spoke with a local accent.

“Someone, somewhere will know the suspect who is responsible and hopefully the reward now being offered will provide added incentive for them to do the right thing and come forward with a name,” said Sergeant Tim Dugmore.

“Although there was no money in the handbag, this is an unusual incident and we take all reports where the homes of vulnerable people are burgled extremely seriously.”

Anyone with information about the burglary that happened on December 12 can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

You can also contact police on 0300 333 3000, quoting reference 423-S-121212, but rewards can only be claimed be passing on information to Crimestoppers.
