A COUNTY schoolgirl has gone for a new short hairstyle to raise money for the Hereford-based charity Little Princess Trust.

Kizzy Stapleton, who lives in Sutton St Nicholas and attends Aylestone High School, donated her hair to the trust after having it cut off at Escape in Church Street on Saturday.

“I was having my hair cut short for my birthday and thought it would be a good idea to give my hair to the Little Princess Trust to help another young girl who had lost her hair as a result of cancer treatment,” said Kizzy, who has just turned 13.

"I never dreamed people would be so generous and donate over £700 to the charity. It was my best birthday present ever.”

Meanwhile, Hereford Times reporter Lydia Johnson has been “bald over” by her own close crop.

Lydia had her hair shaved off to raise £700 for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

“After writing many stories in 2012 about people around the county doing sponsored runs, walks, cycles, and a whole host of other things, I felt inspired to give more,” said Lydia. “I can't stop touching my head. It feels really good.”
