THE Courtyard, in association with Ledbury Poetry Festival, will be holding its very first Poetry Slam on Sunday, September 25.
A night of knockout poetry and spirited performances is in store as wordsmiths take to the stage in a battle for a chance to perform at next year’s Ledbury Poetry Festival.
Each poet will be marked on three categories – the quality of their writing, the quality of their performance and the warmth of the audience response, so join comperes Steve Rooney and Sara-Jane Arbury for an evening of good verbal vibrations and lend your support for those taking a stanza on stage.
Philippa Slinger, Ledbury Poetry Festival manager, says: “We’re excited to bring one of Ledbury Poetry Festival’s sell out shows to Hereford, in collaboration with The Courtyard. It’s a funtabulous event, where high energy duelling wordsmiths slam up against poetry, comedy, rap, and language hi-jinx to the roar of the applaudience. Come for a fantastic night out, and discover Ledbury Poetry Festival’s best kept secret!”
There is still time to enter as a competitor in the Poetry Slam. If you are interested in finding out more please email Harriet Coleman: harriet.coleman@courtyard.org.uk Poetry Slam will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre on Sunday, September 25 at 7.30pm.
