BOSBURY Players continue their established record of great music and drama on stage with this year's production - the 18th century musical The Beggar's Opera, by John Gay. This show, the blockbuster of its day, is a real extravaganza of singing and acting with a cast of 30 and a six-piece band reflecting the musical sound of the time, and includes many well-known songs. The action is set among the taverns and gaols of London low life in the early 18th century and tells the story of an infamous highwayman, Macheath, and his two women, Polly Peachum and Lucy Lockit.

Directed by Alan Soper, with musical direction by Martin Wall, performances are in Bosbury Parish Hall from Wednesday, November 25 to Saturday, November 28 at 7.30pm. Tickets can be reserved at Bosbury Barbers, John Goodwin Estate Agent, Colwall or by calling Gill Andrews on 01531 640410.
