WE all know the story, we've all heard the songs and now Grease is coming to multiply our chills on a stage in Hereford.

It is the latest production of the show for X-entricity Theatre which electrified the Larruperz Centre in Ross-on-Wye in May this year with its rendition of one of the nation’s favourites, featuring Danny and Sandy, the T-Birds, Pink Ladies and the pupils of Rydell High.

That’s along with all the unforgettable songs from the hit movie, including Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Greased Lightning and You’re the One That I Want.

Steve Liddle, who was in the original X-entricity cast as a 14-year-old back in 2001, is back in the director's chair this year. He took up the role aged 18 nearly 10 years ago.

He said: “We chose Grease because it's one we haven't done before. A lot of the musicals we have done are very big and epic and we did Les Miserables last year which was just amazing but was very heavy.

"It kind of just took it all out of us emotionally and we wanted to do something upbeat and fun but also something that we could do a really good job on.”

Featuring a talented cast made up of young people from around the county aged between 14 and 21, Grease will run at the Courtyard for five shows next week.

And X-entricity is, as far as Steve is aware, one of the only youth theatre groups in the county.

"They have come to join us because this is the career path they want to go down. They are highly disciplined and want to be committed – I think it just breeds a different type,” he said. “This is their passion. You only have to see the show to see the calibre of the talent.

"Some of the vocalists wouldn't be out of place on a West End stage. Our Sandy is studying right now in London and is in one of the best theatre schools in the UK so she's coming back up for us.

"I feel like a young, proud dad. I'm forever going and seeing them in their stuff. They're so talented."

Tickets are selling fast so you'll have to be quick if you want to get a seat for the show which runs from Wednesday October 28 to Saturday October 31.

"These young people have worked so hard to create an evening of unbelievable entertainment,” added Steve.

“I don't think anyone would be disappointed and would be proud that it is local talent."
