WHEN an impoverished pearl diver finds the pearl of the world he thinks his life will be transformed forever. But seduced by its beauty and the promise of riches, he is blind to the pearl’s destructive power.

Arts Alive presents the excellent theatre company, Dumbshow, in The Pearl, a dramatic version of this timeless fable, adapted from the novella by John Steinbeck.

The Pearl was a hit in Edinburgh, scoring four stars from Hot Show and the comment “An imaginative joy to behold”, from The Scotsman

Sian Kerry of Arts Alive selected The Pearl after fantastic feedback from a regular Arts Alive audience member, as well as another touring scheme’s manager. She hopes particularly that young people, many of whom will be studying John Steinbeck’s work, will enjoy this show. Dumbshow tell powerful stories which explore the human condition with wit, charm and emotional impact. This is a story which resonates strongly in a society that is questioning what we value most.

The Pearl is at Dilwyn Cedar Hall on Friday, November 7 at 7.30pm. To book, call 01568 720226, or book online at artsalive.co.uk
