TABLETOP Games is a new piece from Ian Kendall, whose work has been performed across the West Midlands over the past decade, and depicts a world where ritual takes precedence over belief or faith, and where moral ambivalence reduces human relationships to a series of brutal power struggles. Stripped of sentiment and empathy, the desperate need to assert control makes the characters powerless subjects (or objects…?) within the vicious cycle of life.

A tabletop football game in a café at a dreary seaside town out of season would seem to be an unlikely place to address one of the most important global problems of our time, but whether you worship God, football or the latest X Factor celebrity, one question is clear…is religion killing faith? Does ritual rule?

"We are delighted to present an intriguing play about a seemingly ordinary world, whose inhabitants' apparent lack of reaction to extreme violence leaves the audience to question the morality of society itself," says Wild Edric's artistic director, Jules Woodman.

Tabletop Games will be at The Courtyard on Saturday, May 3 at 7.45pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 o visit courtyard.org.uk
