WYE Harmony, Hereford’s new ladies' a capella choir are singing from the rooftops after winning the Adult Choir section at the Herefordshire Performing Arts Festival.

The 18-strong choir has performed at a number of private and public events since they started singing under the directorship of local music professional, Jon Weller. This is the first time, however, that the ladies have ever entered a competition and adjudicator Elizabeth Stafford praised Wye Harmony for their “accomplished performance” and for bringing a “real sense of fun” to the festival.

As a result of their success, Wye Harmony are inviting other local ladies who may be interested in joining the choir to come along for a glass of wine and a sing at two taster evenings at St David’s Hall in Castle Street, Hereford.

Musical director Jon Weller promises the evenings will be fun and informal: “You don’t need to be able to read music, just have a love of singing! So come back to singing or come for the first time – either way, give us a try. We’re a happy bunch and you’ll be made to feel very welcome!”

On Wednesday, May 18, the taster session starts at 7.30pm and on Wednesday May 25, the session begins at 7pm. Further details are available at wyeharmony.co.uk.
