THE Britten singers have just started their rehearsals for the new season and conductor Pamela White has chosen a challenging programme.

The group is a chamber choir of about 16 voices and for more than 40 years they have sung music ranging from the 16th to the 21st century. Their repertoire this year will contain many pieces by French composers including Debussy, Saint Saens and Passereau as well as pieces by local composer, John Frith and Finzi. Their main work this year will be the Requiem by Durufle, which will be performed with organ accompaniment. The choir is always keen to hear from singers who enjoy singing in a small group.
