HAWKSWOOD is one of three courtyard properties created from original out buildings formerly belonging to Homme House, an impressive 17th century mansion house enjoying a delightful parkland setting. Hawkswood had been the stables to the house and was converted in 1998 to a distinctive grade II listed home.
The interior of the house provides flexible living space cleverly utilizing the distinctive character of the original building and has been created using reconditioned antique materials including the woodwork, Westmorland slate flooring, original elm and pine floorboards and superb stained glass windows. The house has been designed with two bedrooms and an adjoining bathroom on the ground floor together with a further bathroom/dressing room from where there is a stone turret staircase to a first floor bedroom. On the first floor a galleried landing leads from the main staircase to a superb open plan breakfast kitchen and on to an impressive sitting room with extensive exposed cruck beams and 17th century Gothic stained glass window. A partially walled garden extends to the rear of the house, and there is a former Victorian cucumber house, currently used as a studio.
Hawkswood is situated within a courtyard adjacent to Homme House, on the outskirts of the village of Much Marcle. Much Marcle has a very vibrant community and has excellent village amenities including a 13th century church, primary school, village hall, pub, garage, a post office store, and Westons Cider producer. The town of Ledbury is approximately five miles distant where there is a wide range of local facilities including shops, schools, churches, hotels, restaurants, doctors surgery, hospital, theatre, bus service and a mainline railway station. The riverside town of Ross-on-Wye is a similar distance and provides further excellent amenities whilst the cities of Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester are all approximately 16 miles distant. The M50 motorway is easily accessible approximately four miles to the south of Ledbury.
