AN international charity started by a Hereford man has set up an emergency appeal to help children affected by conflict in the middle-east.
Children of Peace, whose founder and chairman is Richard Martin, aims to build peace between Israeli and Palestinian children - the people it calls forgotten victims' of violence in Gaza.
They do this by engaging seven to 17 year-olds in arts, education, health and sports projects, as well as providing essential items such as blankets and school equipment.
The charity, which is highly regarded on both sides of the conflict because of its non-partisan approach, is now asking the people of Herefordshire to support their work and help them find the 10,000 blankets and sleeping-bags, 1,000 children's hearing aids and 4,000 children's spectacle frames it needs, as well as 2,000 pens, notebooks and school bags.
