A MAN has been sentenced to six months in prison following a spate of burglaries in Ross-on-Wye.
Douglas Davies, 34, from Welsh Newton, stole money, iPads, laptops and computers during the raids that were committed over the past six weeks while he was released, on licence, from Cardiff Prison.
Davies pleaded guilty to eight charges of theft and one of attempted theft when he appeared at Hereford Magistrates Court.
Following the sentence, Detective Sergeant Andy Bennett said: "We are committed as a team to preventing and detecting these crimes that have a huge impact on our rural communities.
"Our teams strive to reassure our communities that we are working behind the scenes, as well as in uniform, to reduce the threat of crime and bring any offenders to justice to make our towns and villages safer."
