A club statement said: "It is with a heavy heart that the club have accepted a revised offer for Lenell John-Lewis from Grimsby Town, for an undisclosed fee.
"With the uncertainty around the continuation of the National League it would not be right to stand in the way of a player that is given the opportunity to play in the English Football League.
"We would like to thank Lenell for his time and contribution at Hereford and wish him all the best for the future and hope he is given the opportunity to keep Grimsby in the EFL.
"Should the season continue, Josh has a number of players lined up that we will be able to bring in at very short notice."
