GRIMSBY Town confirmed the signing of Lenell John-Lewis today after Hereford accepted an undisclosed offer for their leading marksman.

The 31-year-old was released by Shrewsbury Town last January and joined Hereford on February 7, making a big impact in his 12 months with the Bulls.

First goal

John-Lewis made an immediate impact and was influential in Hereford clawing back a 2-0 deficit to draw 2-2 with Southport.

His first goal came a week later at Edgar Street netting from a tight angle during their 2-2 draw with Darlington.

The demolition of York

John-Lewis really marked his arrival at Hereford scoring twice in Hereford's 4-1 win at title hopefuls York City.

The Bulls were without an away win in five months and in 17th.

They headed to, at the time, league leaders York on a Tuesday night.

After the Bulls took an early lead John-Lewis doubled their lead with a header.

With the game still within York's reach at 3-1 the marksman unleashed a wicked shot from long range to seal the win.

Re-signing following lockdown

John-Lewis and Hereford were just finding their feet under interim manager John Gowling when the season was curtailed with five matches remaining- including three home games.

So Hereford fans were delighted when John-Lewis signed for the 2020/21 season.

Pre-season

John-Lewis, along with Hereford's signed players, saw their pre-season preparations plagued by minor injuries.

The striker did however net from the penalty spot in their opening pre-season match at Wellington.

FA Cup double at Gosport

Despite the disjointed pre-season John-Lewis got his season underway with a double in Hereford's 3-1 win at Gosport Borough.

Firstly putting the Bulls ahead with a low effort inside the box.

The striker then settled the tie in the second half with his goal second.

He won a penalty before firing home and was then substituted to rest.

Guiseley winner

Hereford's first away win of the season came after a gritty performance at Guiseley.

Keeping his cool from the penalty spot John-Lewis' 31st minute goal separated the sides.

Late goals to earn points

In the right place when it mattered John-Lewis rescued points against both Kettering and Chorley at Edgar Street.

With just a minute left on the clock against Chorley the marksman steered home a header to rescue a point.

Just a week later John-Lewis rescued a point once again during a 3-3 draw with Kettering.

The marksman was awarded an 81st minute penalty before scoring from the penalty spot.

How did he score that?

John-Lewis scored a goal to remember in Hereford's 2-1 win over promotion hopefuls AFC Fylde.

When positioned at the byline he somehow netted his 37th minute leveller from the narrowest of angles.

On the hour the marksman secured the win taking a touch before rifling home inside the box.

FA Trophy winner

The 31-year-old striker was back on the score-sheet scoring a deflected effort in Hereford's 3-0 home win over St Neots Town.

Four days later John-Lewis scored the winner in their 1-0 win over Nantwich Town.

Festive goals over rivals

John-Lewis was back in the goals over the festive period.

Firstly the marksman headed home through a crowd Hereford's final goal in their 3-1 win over Kidderminster Harriers.

After missing the trip to Leamington through a slight hamstring injury he returned for the trip to Kidderminster.

With the Bulls losing 1-0 the striker won and then scored a penalty to earn a 1-1 draw.
