Car damages lamppost after crashing into Hereford house

The silver vehicle was damaged as a result of the impact, while debris, including bricks and a lamppost, were strewn across the pavement and road in the 30mph zone. 

The crash happened at the junction of Plumpton Avenue and Kempton Avenue.

Anthony Powell, who lives in the affected house in Plumpton Avenue, said he was in bed when he heard a big crash shortly after 6.50am. 

"I looked out the window and the lamppost and brickwork were all over the road," he said.  

"We've lived here for 24 years, but this is the first time we've had anything like this happen."

In September 2022, a car overturned in Kempton Avenue after crashing into two parked vehicles by the junction of Haldon Way.

On that occasion, the driver of the overturned car, a woman, managed to get herself out of the vehicle. She was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Hereford County Hospital.

"We've never really been concerned before," added Mr Powell.

"When we first moved here, there were no parked cars on the side of the road, but now there's cars everywhere."

Two fire crews, one each from Hereford and Leominster fire stations, were called to the scene after receiving a report that a car had crashed into street furniture and a house.

A fire service spokesperson said firefighters worked to make the scene safe, while the male driver of the crashed car was handed over to the care of paramedics.

An ambulance service spokesperson added that one man was involved in the crash. He was assessed and treated for minor injuries before being discharged at the scene.

Police were also called to the scene. By 9am, the emergency services had left the scene and the car had been removed.
