BUS passengers are being reminded about the rules on Hereford's free service.

The Zipper service takes people across the city centre, helping people to go to places such as Hereford Medical Centre, Asda and the railway station.

But a recent post on its Facebook page says that people should aim to use it for commuting purposes, rather than solely for leisure or passing time.

"We greatly appreciate your ongoing support for our Zippers service, which has seen significant success in recent times. However, due to the substantial increase in ridership, we kindly request that commuters use our buses primarily for commuting purposes, rather than solely for leisure or passing time," it reads.

"While we understand that our service is free and serves as a valuable resource to many, it is important that we collectively respect its purpose and use it with goodwill and practicality.

"Please note that all our buses are equipped with state-of-the-art CCTV footage, enabling us to closely monitor activities. Any incidents or concerns are promptly logged and reported to the authorities for further action.

"We urge all passengers to exercise mindfulness and considerate behaviour when utilising our service, both for their own benefit and that of others.

"We extend our gratitude to those who already adhere to these guidelines and encourage everyone to continue making use of our buses responsibly.

"Thank you for your cooperation and continued patronage."

The electric buses, which launched last November, runs every 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday, and every 30 minutes on Sundays.

The project is part of the Stronger Hereford programme, which aims to make the city a better place to live, learn, work and visit.

Starting and finishing at the railway station, other stops along the route include the bus station, the Courtyard, Maylord Shopping Centre, the Shirehall, the library in Friars Street, the leisure pool and the Left Bank Village.
