Hereford firefighters called to Christmas pudding fire

Crews have been called to a number of incidents across the city today.

A Hereford fire station spokesperson said crews received their first call at 7.10am, when they were called to help West Midlands Ambulance Service gain entrance to a property.

They were then called out just after 2pm to an automatic fire alarm at a residential care home in the Aylestone Hill area of Hereford, the spokesperson said.

The alarm was confirmed to be false, having gone off due to dust in the smoke detector head. Advice was given to staff at the home and the crews were able to leave it in their hands.

The third call of the day saw a crew again called to help the ambulance service gain entry to a property at 4.18pm.

The spokesperson said that crews used method of entry equipment to access the property and left the resident in the care of the ambulance crew.

And it has continued to be a busy Christmas for the station, with firefighters called to a second automatic fire alarm at sheltered housing in the Tupsley area.

Firefighters found that there had been a small fire involving a pudding which had already been put out on their arrival. Smoke was cleared from the flat and advice was given to the occupier.
