WITH so many takeaways in Hereford to choose from, it’s hard to decide where to get your Saturday night fix. That’s why we have found the top five Chinese eateries in the city, as reviewed by TripAdvisor users.

New Jasmine House, Credenhill

TripAdvisor rating: 4.5 out of five

Credenhill might be a 15-minute drive from the city centre, but at number one on the list of takeaways in and around Hereford, it might well be worth the journey – especially because 98 of New Jasmine House’s 118 reviewers rate the Chinese takeaway as excellent or very good.

“Orders need to be placed on the day, and collected,” wrote Fiona. “Flavours were great, and each meal had a distinct flavour of that dish.”

Set in Holmer Street, 45 of New Lucky House’s 52 reviewers rate it as excellent or very good.

“The best Chinese takeaway in Hereford. Have always had a good meal with fab service,” wrote Sarah. “Wouldn’t go anywhere else.”

New Canton House, Bridge Street

Trip Advisor rating: four out of five

Located on Bridge Street, the New Canton House has hit the spot for many diners, with 18 of its 23 Trip Advisor reviewers rating it excellent or very good.

“They don’t deliver, but by God, the food is great. Ron is efficient on the counter and knows what I order, he even knows if I forget the curry sauce for my wife,” wrote Steven, leaving a five-star review and saying he would rate it six stars if he could.

New Chop Suey Bar, Eign Street

TripAdvisor rating: four out of five

This Chinese takeaway is in Eign Street, close to Hereford’s city centre and the busy Whitecross Road. Out of 21 reviewers, 15 said it was excellent.

“The food here is amazing,” wrote Sandy. “Richard who answers the phone and takes the orders is very warm and friendly.”

2J Chinese Takeaway, Union Street

TripAdvisor rating: four out of five 

Based on Union Street, eight of 2J’s 12 reviews rate the Chinese takeaway as excellent or very good.

“What a discovery,” wrote Jenny. “Behind the yellow fronted shop, you see some wonky handwritten signs on a drinks counter, so you don’t expect much – but then you get the food home and wow. Well worth the risk and quite frankly my new favourite place. The food was tasty without being dehydrating. Would very much recommend.”
