A WEATHER warning is in force for Herefordshire this morning as strong winds hit.

The Met Office yellow warning for wind will be in force from 10am to 6pm today (March 13).

The Met Office said that strong and gusty southwesterly winds may lead to some disruption in the county and beyond, particularly for prone high-sided vehicles.

Forecasters said southwesterly winds will widely gust to between 50 and 55 mph, with gusts reaching up to 60 to 65 mph over some exposed hills.

The highest gusts are expected between mid-morning and mid-afternoon, the Met Office said.

Flooding

Flood alerts are also in force for Herefordshire this morning, with river levels rising due to melting snow and rainfall.

The Environment Agency has said rivers in the county are set to peak through today and tomorrow at levels far below Herefordshire's record.

Teams will be monitoring river levels, with further rainfall forecast.
