Exam season is beginning for college and high school students across the nation, and mocks are creeping up faster than anticipated for students and their families.

Hereford Sixth Form Students begin their mocks on March 20th, and formal A-Level examinations begin from 12th May, 2025, and end by 25th June, 2025.

Parents may be concerned for their teenagers as they enter a new era of their academic careers, with consistent stress and overwhelming amounts of revision, it’s hard to know how best to support them.

As students enter their spring term, it is important they get the best support possible to encourage them through their exams.

Exam stress is experienced by around 96% of students, according to some studies, with around 59% of students feeling pressure from their parents to achieve good grades.

As a parent, it is vital to ensure encouragement and positivity as your child goes into the exam season; positive affirmations and reinforcement that no matter their results, there are always option, and they are always loved is a good first step in easing pressure.

It has also been found through recent studies that 29% of students found exercise to positively impact their exam stress.

Regular exercise can therefore help relieve some stress of teenagers; family walks, cycling or runs can be positive, with the element of family support helping relief some symptoms of stress.

Many students find quiet spaces helpful for their revision. To help promote revision, take note of your child's study times and ensure a quiet household to help them focus.

Reports have found it common for stress to manifest itself in your teens eating habits.

Eating more than normal, skipping meals, and increased reliance on junk foods and energy drinks have all been found to be symptoms of exam stress- to support your teens, encourage good eating habits and regular meals.

Exam season is stressful for everyone involved, but support and encouragement can go a long way.
