HEREFORD manager Josh Gowling said that having fans back at Edgar Street was the difference as they ran out 2-1 winners over promotion hopefuls AFC Fylde.

“I think last year we struggled with the crowd as a whole,” said Gowling speaking to Keith Hall after the win.

“To deal with the expectations of a crowd but the players that we’ve brought in this year a lot of them have got football league experience and are used to play in front of crowds.

“For me that was the difference today, the crowd getting behind us, pushing us forward, keeping us focused and cheering.

“When things were going against us they kept us going and pushing us on. I said that they’d be the 12th man and they really made the difference today and pushed us on.

“Nothing has changed and I hope the fans can see that you can’t fault the lads’ work-rate,

“My teams will always have work-rate and put the effort in. They did that today and I’m so pleased that we’ve got the win today with a good performance at home.”
