HEREFORDSHIRE music star Ellie Goulding was in the county last week - and she stopped off at two places that she holds dear to her heart.

The Lyonshall artist met budding musicans at Hereford Sixth Form College (HSFC), as well as chatting with the team at Herefordshire Wildlife Trust (HWT) at Bodenham Lake Nature Reserve about what is being done to restore habitats in the county.

The 36-year-old, who studied A-level politics, drama and English language and literature at the Folly Lane college from 2003 to 2005, heard songs from rock and pop academy bands, Dead on Arrival and Crush. BBC Radio 4 were also there at the visit last Thursday (December 14).

"Students then had the chance to ask Ellie all about working in the music industry and what steps they could take for their future endeavours," said a spokesperson from HSFC.

"What an incredible way to wrap up a successful term!"

Meanwhile, when at Bodenham Lake, Ellie learned about whether Herefordshire is ready for beavers.

Posting on its Facebook page, HWT said: "It was great to be able to show Ellie, along with environmental journalist Lucy Siegel and Radio 4's Caz Graham, the great work that our team have achieved at the site from planting reedbed to creating shallows and islands.

"There is now a wonderful suite of habitats at the site and this year we have recorded lost of firsts from bittern to breeding little ringed plover.

"Ellie is incredibly well-informed and passionate about environmental issues and it was such a pleasure to show her around. How brilliant for her to use her platform to champion nature - a true superstar."

It has been reported that Ellie has signed up to record a documentary about her life.

According to The Sun, Ellie has already invited cameras into her life and hopes to use the documentary to highlight her work away from the studio in her battle against global warming.

To date, Ellie has sold 27 million albums and 216 million singles, as well as amassing 43 billion streams worldwide.

Her breakthrough came in 2010 when her debut studio album, Lights, reached number one in the UK Albums charts. That same year, she won the Critics' Choice Award at the BRITS, and also performed at the wedding reception of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The songstress has also successfully collaborated with DJ and record producer Calvin Harris, which includes smash hit, Miracle.
