A THIEF who stole Advent calendars and Christmas decorations will spend Christmas in prison after committing a string of offences.

Luke Fenn entered guilty pleas to eight counts of theft from a shop, two counts of attempted theft from a shop, and four counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in December.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that Fenn had stolen hygiene products worth £40 from Leominster Pharmacy on November 8, advent calendars worth £70 from Co-op and Christmas decorations from The Factory Shop, both in Leominster, on November 13.

He had also stolen chocolates worth £50 from Morrisons, Leominster, on November 15, and chocolates worth £88, meat worth £80, and hygiene products worth £100 from the same shop on November 17, and Christmas wreaths worth £90 from the shop on November 22. He attempted to steal hygiene products from Leominster's Boots on November 13 and November 17.

The 34-year-old had also broken his criminal behaviour order by entering Co-op in Leominster on November 13, and Morrisons in Leominster on two occasions on November 17 and on November 20.

Magistrates said they had taken the guilty pleas into account but that the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified due to Fenn's previous theft convictions and failure to comply with court orders.

Fenn, who is of no fixed address, was jailed for a total of 24 weeks.
