AN ANNUAL Herefordshire event is set to tee off once more for more fundraising fun.

ELY’s Charity Golf Day is held every second week in July at the Burghill Valley Golf Club.

The annual event started in 2012 with around 20 teams of four mixed players but has steadily grown to the amazing 37 golf teams who registered to play on July 13 this year.

After a lovely bacon roll and a tea or coffee for breakfast, the fantastic day comprises of 18 golf rounds. As a treat, M&M Ices will be on site for a few hours near the tenth hole.  Once the players have finished on the course, they can enjoy two more courses of the delicious kind for dinner, including strawberries and cream donated by S&A Produce of Marden.

The day has six winning prizes of first to sixth place teams, along with prizes for the longest drive and nearest the pin. A large raffle will also be held, with many spectacular, donated prizes to be won, including a Thomas Carroll golf voucher, a one-night stay at Lowe Farm, contributions from the Beefy Boys, The Courtyard, Easy Garage, M&S, plus many more.

The fund is very grateful to everyone at Burghill who help make the day so special, including Mark Ellis, office staff, Andy Cameron, the Pro Shop and Nick Isaac.

ELY would also like to express their thanks to the day’s main sponsors of Tudors Building and Redmayne Marley, along with golf hole sponsors Lanyon Bowdler, FMS, BKPS, Evans Cleaning, Spectra, HMS Automated Gates, Rappor, Vega teams, The Music Shop, SC Josephs and Thomas Carroll. The hole sponsors’ business details will be displayed at their designated hole.

Ange Tyler, charity manager of The ELY Memorial Fund said: “We are looking forward to another Charity Golf Day and to welcome our players back who support ELY every year.  Thank you all so much for your support.”
