A Herefordshire runner has completed a monster 24-hour challenge in aid of the ELY Memorial Fund.
Emma Price decided to take on P24: The Longest Day 2024 to help the charity - a virtual running challenge by Phoenix Running in which participants run a mile every hour for 24 consecutive hours, starting at 8am on June 22 and running the final mile at 7am on June 23.
And so, at 8am on June 22, Ms Price took to the starting line of her challenge at Hereford personal training and group exercise gym, The Studio, where personal trainer Ben Harwood and a group of the gym's members joined her. The Studio gym helped a great deal with Ms Price’s fundraising efforts, contributing an amazing £2,000 by holding a fitness fundraiser and raffle in aid of the cause.

Every hour, Ms Price ran 1.5 miles, stopping at various locations for coffee and cake, one of which saw Ange Tyler, Charity Manager of the ELY Memorial Fund, meet Ms Price at Wellington Garden Centre.
Both Ms Tyler and director of ELY Memorial, Diana Wood, met Emma on Sunday morning, in the grounds of Hereford Cathedral where she finished her immense all-day challenge as she started with members from The Studio. A group of Ms Price’s supporters joined her in celebrating with a hearty breakfast at The Bookshop after.
Ms Tyler said everyone at the charity is “hugely proud of Emma for supporting ELY and raising an amazing £3,080.”
Ms Price has raised more than enough to cover the costs of one of ELY’s £3,000 contributions to the funeral costs of a family living in Herefordshire who have tragically lost a child aged between 17 and 25 years in a road traffic collision. You can continue to donate to Ms Price’s fundraiser on her Just Giving page.
Ms Price “really enjoyed the challenge” is “so grateful to everyone for getting behind me and supporting such a fantastic charity, I have seen first-hand the hard work and dedication that Ange puts into ELY, so it's been a pleasure to be able to do something to support her work.”
