A HOMELESS man damaged two vehicles and the window of a shop in Hereford.

The man intended to destroy or damage the window at Express Gas Services, or was reckless as to whether it would be destroyed or damaged, on January 5. The damage was worth £1,000.

He also caused £30 of damage each to a Citroen C4 and a Toyota Aygo on December 4 last year, said prosecutor Owen Beale of the Crown Prosecution Service. He was also said to have been reckless as to whether these cars would have been destroyed or damaged, or to have intended to damage them.

The perpetrator, who pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000, was 41-year-old Aaron Newton.

Newton is of no fixed address, and appeared before Hereford magistrates on April 23 represented by defence solicitor Marilena Di Vitantonio.

His sentencing was deferred until August 27. In the meantime, he must not re-offend, and must continue with a rehabilitation programme he is undertaking and keep in touch with probation services.
