A THIEF has been in court after stealing from a Herefordshire shop and smashing a bottle of wine.
Jack Smalley pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and one count of theft from a shop when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford last month.
The court heard from prosecutor Lauren Millichip that the 27-year-old had stolen from Ross-on-Wye's One Stop shop on February 24.
He took £4 worth of alcohol, which was a bottle of WKD, and destroyed a bottle of wine worth £9 without lawful excuse, the magistrates were told.

Smalley, of Marlbrook Road, Hereford, was handed a conditional discharge for the theft, meaning he will not be sentenced for this offence unless he commits further offences within the next six months.
He was ordered to pay a £40 fine for the criminal damage, plus £135 in court costs.
His guilty pleas were taken into account by magistrates when they imposed the sentence.
