A PARROT and a man stuck on top of a building in a Herefordshire town have been rescued by firefighters.

A man in his 30s and a bird were stuck on top of a building in Godiva Road, Leominster, yesterday afternoon (April 30).

Firefighters went out to the incident and gained access to the roof of the building.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) received a call about the man and bird yesterday.

A spokesperson said: "A HWFRS crew from Leominster Fire Station was called at 2.19pm on April 30 to a rescue from height in Godiva Road, Leominster. A man in his 30s and a parrot were rescued using a nine-metre ladder. The incident was marked as pending closure at 2.46pm."

The fire service did not give details on how the man and the bird got onto the roof in the first place, and did not give the exact location of the incident.

The spokesperson did say that the rescue was "a little unusual".
