A FIESTA driver caught out in a Hereford street has been banned from the roads for over three years.

Ryan Gillespie entered guilty pleas to one count of driving while over the alcohol limit and one count of driving a vehicle with no front registration plate when he appeared before Hereford magistrates this month.

The court heard from prosecutor Lauren Millichip that Gillespie had been caught out in Hereford’s Bodenham Road after getting behind the wheel of a white Ford Fiesta that did not have a number plate on the front while over the drink-driving limit on February 17.

An evidential breath test revealed that he had 89 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The 28-year-old, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Chris Read, was also found to have been driving without a number plate on the front of the car, magistrates were told.

Gillespie, of Geldof Grove, Hereford, was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for 40 months for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty pleas into account when coming to their decision.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £48 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
