THE body of a woman found from a river in Hereford has now been identified, police said.

Officers recovered the body at about 11.30pm on Friday (March 8) after searching the river Wye in Hereford.

A spokesperson for the police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

West Mercia Police did not release the details of the woman's identity.

A report will now be prepared for the coroner.

Giving details of the search in the river on Friday night, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three Hereford and Worcester Fire and Service crews, two from Hereford and one from Fownhope fire stations, including water first responders, plus the boat crews from Hereford and Worcester fire stations and the incident support unit and drone from Ledbury were called at 11.46pm on March 8 to a rescue from water in St Martin's Street, Hereford. Ambulance and police also attended."
