A DRINK-DRIVER who was caught on a Herefordshire road on New Year's Eve has been banned from driving.

Elliott Davies, 36, of Cupid Way in Swansea, was driving along the B4224 in Hampton Bishop on New Year's Eve when he was caught by police.

Prosecuting him at Hereford Magistrates' Court, Owen Beale said officers breathalysed Davies and he blew a reading of 86 microgrammes (mg) of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35 mg.

The court heard he had been driving a red Renault Clio when he was caught out by police.

He was represented at the hearing on February 21 at Hereford Magistrates' Court by Chris Read and pleaded guilty to drink-driving.

He was disqualified from driving for 22 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a victim surcharge of £48. The victim surcharge goes towards services supporting victims of crime.
